and Farmer's Market Online

St. Monica's brings the farm to you! Local farmers, crafters and other producers will bring produce and other goods to our campus every 1st and 3rd Saturday, May through October, from 8 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Shoppers can purchase fresh, nourishing, produce, herbs, baked goods crafts and more.

Supporting local farmers and providing the people of Central Escambia County with healthier food choices is an act of faith and community building. Since local food does not have to be hauled long distances, food is fresher and more nutritious and requires less fuel to transport. It can also help remind us of our crucial connection to the earth and encourage us to become better stewards by supporting local producers, who finance their continuing production of quality products through local sales.

  • The Farmers' Market at St. Monica's expands the church's ministry by:

  • Connecting God's call to environmental stewardship to the foods we eat, stewardship of our resources, and reducing the carbon footprint of what we eat;
  • Building community by providing the people of Central Escambia County, the community of Cantonment and our neighborhood with a healthy way to gather and connect with each other on a regular basis;
  • Building opportunities for advanced ministries, such as horticultural therapy, production of agricultural products, mentoring and educational stewardship;
  • Providing the community with the awareness of other ways of being "church" beyond traditional perspectives;
  • Linking the Market's customers with food producers and the advantages of consuming locally grown and produced food;
  • Attracting and keeping vendors with sustainable farming practices, artisan production and varied goods which reflect and celebrate local agriculture;
  • Educating patrons with practical ways to maintain the connection with the sources of their food;
  • Helping fill the growing demand for fresh, locally grown and prepared foods in Escambia/Santa Rosa counties and the surrounding areas;
  • Making good use of resources by giving excess and leftover produce to Manna Food Pantry and local organizations that provide for persons in need
  • The Farmers' Market at Saint Monica's is a self-supporting ministry of Saint Monica's Episcopal Church. In lieu of a fee, vendors are asked to bring a cash or food donation for Manna Food Pantry.
